Professor Tranell holds a MSc in Geotechnology/Metallurgy from LTU, Sweden and a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from UNSW, Australia. Prior to joining NTNU in 2009, she worked as Senior Scientist and Research Manager with SINTEF. Her esearch interests and activities include: Production, refining and recycling of Ferroalloys, Silicon, Aluminium and their sidestreams. Environmental issues and emission from metal production. She has led several European (FP7, H2020, EIT RM) and national (Norwegian) projects and has over 200 peer reviewed publications in the area of metal production, refining and recycling.
