Katarina Nilsson is currently Director for Research &Innovation at the Swedish Association of Mines, Minerals and Metal Producers (SveMin) and since September 2022 also President of the European Technology Platform on Sustainable Mineral Resources (ETP SMR). She has previously been senior adviser at the Ministry of Enterprise and Innovation at the Government Offices of Sweden on mineral policy and legislation, also being the Governments’ representative on various committees and expert groups as for example the Raw Materials Supply Group, the International Metals Study Groups and the Sherpa Group of the EIPon raw materials. An important part of the work has also been promoting Swedish Mining Technology and Innovation to key export countries. She holds a PhD in Geodynamics and Tectonics from Uppsala university and worked several years as State geologist at the Geological Survey of Sweden.
