Luis Tercero Espinozaleads the Business Unit Raw Materials at the FraunhoferInstitute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI in Karlsruhe, Germany. Critical raw materials and changing demand through emerging technologies are important themes in his work. He has been actively involved in the process of identifying critical raw materials for the EU since its beginnings in 2009. He is a member of the Operational Group of the European Innovation Partnership (EIP) and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Entwicklungsfonds Seltene Metalle (ESM Foundation, Bern, Switzerland), dedicated to support research and development activities in the field of Rare and Critical Elements. Luis received his formal training in chemical engineering (B.Sc., M.Sc., Dr.-Ing.) in Nicaragua, USA and Germany.
